Spontaneous Bathroom Painting

A few weeks back, we randomly re-painted our bathroom. Like I said in my last post, Kyler has finally started taking decent naps. I say decent because I hear there are babies that are capable of taking 2-3 hour naps. What in the world is that about and where can I get one?

Anyway, I think this was during the first week Kyler started taking long naps, Cody was home from class early on a Friday, and we were still in such sheer shock at the fact that we had an hour and a half of free time. What was the most logical way to spend that God-given free time? Why painting our bathroom, of course.

I have always hated the color of our guest bathroom. Actually I pretty much hated all the colors the previous owner had painted our house, but we have since painted over everything....except that bathroom, and our master bathroom (which is a tolerable light blue for now). Let's take a look at the before pics of the bathroom...

Now that I look at it, the color doesn't look all that bad, but trust me, it just wasn't working in there. There was some left over paint from the previous owner in our garage that was a brown/tan color that wasn't too bad. I figured it would warm up the bathroom and give it that spa-like feel. It is not the exact color I would choose, but hey, beggars can't be choosers! And it was free! So while Kyler was being a good little napping baby....

We got to painting. One nap later (and a play session, and a feeding, and some baby entertaining while the other one finished up the second coat) and we had a whole new bathroom.

I definitely think it warms up the room and makes it feel more luxurious. Did you notice
the crown molding? Why the previous owner chose the guest bathroom as the ONLY room in the house to install crown molding is beyond me! We are hoping one day to add more through out the house. Along with new tile, carpet, different hardware, and an array of other things that will probably never get done.

So that is how we made over our bathroom for free during Kyler's glorious nap. Imagine all the things I could have gotten done had he napped like this from birth!
